The WAFC, in conjunction with the AFL, appointed Paatsch Group to explore the potential for Leederville Oval to become the AFLW marquee venue/Tier 2 AFL venue in Perth.
Key issues
With the establishment of the AFLW competition in 2017, the expansion and growth of the WAWFL competition and the overall growth of women’s football there has become increasing pressure on provision of quality facilities suitable for women’s football.
The inclusion of a West Coast Eagles team into the AFLW competition in 2020 has resulted in a need to establish a high-level venue in Perth to cater for AFLW games.
